Louisa May Alcott spent time as a Civil War Nurse in one of 150 hospitals in Washington D.C. before contracting typhoid and pneumonia. Learn more about Civil War nurses and see some actual surgical tools used by Civil War physicians in field hospitals. These tools are generously on loan from the University of Utah Eccles Health Sciences Library.
